For individuals struggling with brain health, finding the correct medication to control symptoms may be a difficult process. The treatment for anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders is not cookie-cutter and may take some trial and error to find the correct medication and dose to control symptoms. This may be a long and frustrating process. For individuals who have tried at least three medications without obtaining control over their symptoms, there is now an option.
The GeneSight test is a simple cheek swab that uses your DNA to determine how your body will metabolize medications for brain health. Based on your genetic results, suggestions are made for medication options. It also allows your provider to determine if your body requires dosage adjustments for medications. Even better, most health insurance plans will help to cover the cost of the test when recommended by your provider.
