A Simple Guide to Balanced Nutrition

Healthy eating doesn't have to be complicated! With so much nutrition information available, it can be overwhelming to know what to eat, how much to eat, or where to begin. The good news? Building balanced, nourishing meals doesn't have to involve strict rules, eliminating food groups, or tracking every calorie.
One of the simplest places to start is by focusing on what you're adding to your plate rather than what you're taking away.
Building Your Balanced Plate
A balanced plate incorporates a variety of nutrients that work together to support energy, blood sugar regulation, hunger and fullness, and overall health.
When building your plate, consider these five components:
• Protein: Start with a source of protein, such as chicken, eggs, lean beef, Greek yogurt, or beans. Protein helps support muscle health and keeps you feeling satisfied.
• Non-Starchy Vegetables: Aim to fill approximately half your plate with colorful vegetables. These provide fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
• Fiber-Rich Carbohydrates: Include foods like potatoes, rice, quinoa, oatmeal, or whole-grain bread to provide energy and support digestion.
• Healthy Fats: Add foods like olive oil, nuts, seeds, or avocado to support overall health and satisfaction.
• Fruit: Enjoy fruit as part of your meal or snack for additional fiber, vitamins, and natural sweetness.
Remember, balance doesn't mean perfection. Not every meal needs to look exactly the same, and portions can vary depending on your individual needs, activity level, and goals.
Looking Beyond the Plate
Nutrition is just one piece of overall wellness. Sleep, stress, movement, and hydration also influence how we feel and function each day.
That's why we've included a Daily Wellness Tracker alongside our Balanced Plate Guide. This tool encourages you to check in with your daily habits, recognize patterns, and build greater awareness around what helps you feel your best.
Rather than focusing on doing everything perfectly, consider choosing one or two small, realistic changes you can practice consistently.
