Ride the Wave

Oftentimes we get caught up in "go, go, go" mode, especially if it's a new goal or routine we've set out to do. Those first couple weeks are exciting and hopeful, we have motivation to do what it takes to achieve our new goals and activities but after a few weeks, that motivation dwindles. Why is that?


It's because we've decided to stop listening to our bodies, mentally and physically, and do whatever necessary to achieve our goals. The excitement of setting a new goal and the motivation to reach it is fun and rewarding but if we don't listen to the signals being sent by our body and mind, those goals will become harder and harder to reach because we begin to run out of energy. How do we replenish our physical and mental energy along the way?


By slowing down and having fun. Don't get so caught up in your new goals that you toss out the things you enjoy. Do things that light up your spirit and "refill your cup". Have coffee with a friend, read a book in the sun or take a nap!


Ride the wave of your energy and motivation. Some days call for renewing and replenishing yourself, other days call for action and productivity. Learn to listen to and honor your needs. The rest is just as important as the action.
