Barre classes use a combination of exercises inspired by ballet (no dance experience necessary!) and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. The barre is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. This class may also incorporate light handheld weights, resistance bands, medicine balls, and/or stability balls. Barre classes are a full body workout, including upper and lower body strengthening, core stabilization, balance, and flexibility. All ages and ability levels welcome. Modifications can be made as needed.
Certified Personal Trainer and TRX Instructor
Candace Pickett is a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and a certified TRX Instructor. She has always been enthusiastic about staying active and practicing self-care.
Coming to Dubuque from Lawrence, KS in 2014, I became interested in fitness training while taking classes at multiple facilities as a way of meeting people and getting acquainted with Dubuque. After working as a receptionist at Statera, I decided that helping others achieve their fitness goals was a strong motivator for me. Inspired by a fellow TRX trainer at Statera, TRX, or total body resistance exercise, instantly became my passion.
I believe that loving yourself and working on becoming the best version of YOU is what drives people to do anything and everything they set their minds to. Motivation and empathy are two things I factor into each session with all of my clients. My goal for clients is to help them reach down deep inside and see what they are capable of! I want to help others achieve their goals, big or small, and will commit to providing the best training and care possible.
